Politics: 2022 Senate Election Results

Before I get to doing an update on the injustice senators after my YouTube video about it is now up, I figure that I might as well get to doing a post on the results of the 2022 senate elections. They were historically good for Democrats while also not being anywhere close to as good as we would want it to be.

Let’s get to the polling about it. If there was a clear winner in the poll consistent with all of the polls, then the polls were 100% accurate about who would win. The Georgia runoff proved to be the most consequential as it caused the Democrats to ultimately gain a seat in the senate. This is the first time since 2006 that the Democrats gained senate seats during the midterms, first time since 1998 that the end result was ultimately a net gain of zero seats for any party (as the DINO in Arizona not up for reelection officially became independent yet will caucus with her “party” since she hates being a Democrat), and the first time since all the way back in 1962 that the Democrats had a net gain of senate seats under a Democratic president.

That wasn’t all of the weirdness that happened with it. Every incumbent of either party was reelected if they ran for reelection. Only one seat even flipped from one party to another. It was kind of dumb that even with just six races lacking incumbents in them, none of the races seemed to be open in any ways as almost none of them were fights by either party to keep control of the seat since they were just foregone conclusions.

This leads to the Wisconsin race. This state baffles me the most as they keep electing a liberal senator one cycle, but do the same thing for a conservative one this cycle. Most people can see that Ron Johnson is a kook, but not the voters of Wisconsin, apparently.

The Georgia senate race was high profile long before its runoff for the controversial Herschel Walker being a candidate in it. It also points clearly to how Republicans cannot possibly be pro-life like they claim because they think it is okay for one of their own to be responsible for abortions since, at best, their response to his abortion scandals was crickets, and, at most, was supporting such an event.

I’m saddened that we still have to put up with Rand Paul even longer. And I know for sure why he won: his opponent didn’t either promote himself or tell us what was wrong with his opponent. That’s the topic of an already covered blog post: It’s the Ads.

One of the reasons that Republicans did poorly was due to their cult leader giving them cyanide flavored cool-aid that they willingly drunk. Trump doesn’t help his party. He does the exact opposite. But the longer it takes them to realize that, the less likely they are to vote.

Mike Lee isn’t a good senator, but he’s in a place that is still so red that it is unlikely that anything other than his death or retirement will take him out of office. What did he know about the coup against the capitol? We may never know.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2022/4/20/2093043/-Sen-Mike-Lee-is-betraying-his-country-still-hiding-what-he-knows-about-a-violent-coup

Pennsylvania had the most notable of all of the races and was the ultimate reason that the Democrats won the senate for real without needing the vice-president to break the tie. It was a Republican primary that was suddenly okay to do recounts of without anyone trying to affect the count in court. Dr. Oz seemed like a quack. He doesn’t even live in Pennsylvania. And attacking your opponent’s stroke only ensures that you sink your party’s chances of winning that race.

Less focused upon was Todd Young of Indiana. He’s from a state that doesn’t have that many Democrats winning office. He tried to point out how high gas prices are. But he didn’t bring a car to a gas station when he did this. Enjoy your privileged, chauffeured life. I don’t make that much money as a chauffeur myself. But even in a job where I get close to minimum wage in at least a state that has a higher one, I don’t pay that much for gas. And I have nowhere near the amount of money that Todd Young does.

Ultimately, it is The Lincoln Project that called it best and was able to point out just how insane their own party has become with candidates like the ones in Arizona preaching that you can’t trust the election results and seriously wondering why they can’t win elections then to follow the Trump playbook, simply suing over the results they don’t like, without the advantage of having appointed the judges hearing those cases, and forgetting that even they wouldn’t go along with his lunacy so why would others?

I’m not too happy with a lot of the Republicans that remain in office having won reelection and at least two of the new senators this year are very worrisome in the Republican Party. Of course, me worrying about the new Republicans in office is worth a different blog post in a different blog. I do like how some of the old fuddy duddies are no longer in office, having retired. But there can be only so few geezers that won’t stay around each cycle. Still, this was a better election season for Democrats than most of them and I can only hope that things will get better later.

Politics: 2023 Elections

I cannot believe that I’m forcing myself to do this post with about an hour to get the rest of this done. A lot has been going on in my life still and I still wanted this to be done. I have another post of this blog that will be done tomorrow and I will be taking April off, not updating this blog then at all. I am hoping that blogs will return to normal soon, but am unsure of how much will return to normal in the future.

With me wanting to look at the future and get this post done and over with, you might want to wonder where are all the important elections? Well, as stated at the end of this post right before the schedule, this won’t mention them all. What I want to say for sure is that there is generally three main states with elections in the year between the midterms and presidential elections and they are Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

Nowadays, most of my political thoughts are in my facebook group: I’m So Glad They Finally Passed Healthcare Reform. Be sure to check that out as it will contain updates as often as I am able to get on facebook and keep using it even with my limited time to do things.

The gubernatorial elections are the main ones that I care about at first for now. In Kentucky, the Democratic governor, Andy Beshear, is running for reelection and I think that he should win. In Louisiana, the Democratic governor, John Bel Edwards, is term limited. In Mississippi, the Republican governor, Tate Reeves, is running for reelection. I don’t think that he should win.

The attorney general elections are also important as I won’t want any of the three incumbents to win. In Mississippi, Lynn Fitch is running for reelection. The attorney generals of Kentucky (Daniel Cameron) and Louisiana (Jeff Landry) are both running for governor instead of their current office. I feel that both of them should lose those elections, be it the primaries or the general election. All of them have their issues and I have a spiel planned for Daniel Cameron.

The secretary of state elections are important like all of them are, but in my brief research of who is up this year in the states that have elections, I’m not too worried about them if any of the three Republican win renomination that they could cause issues like the election deniers that we often have to deal with nowadays.

Going back to Tate Reeves, there was a scandal involving the water pressure in Jackson, the capitol of Mississippi, and there are plenty of other problems with this guy as well. I plan to be more timely with Act Blue donations this year than I dumbly was last.

As for Andy Beshear, I see a potential president in him, even though I’m not sure that it would work for a while. He has lead by example even as the Republican legislature prevents him from doing even more than he could.

Regarding my vendetta against certain attorney generals, it seems that Republicans want their own party members to die of covid since they are against common sense measure that science agrees with and makes sense to logical people. Here’s one problem caused by Jeff Landry.

There isn’t too much else to say about this year’s election in this post. I know that I care more about what happens in other states that I don’t live in as I have yet to look up what is going on with my own state (Illinois) as I have never really cared at all. Still, enjoy this schedule as I try to keep you informed about life in general.
